Kudos to the Tribune on the recent editorials ”Spare us, Mr. Perot” and ”Ross Perot`s excellent misadventure,” which warned Perot not to re-enter the presidential race. However, the Tribune was too kind.
In the spring, Perot promised the American public he would be their
”servant” and run for president if his name were put on the ballot in all 50 states.
He did serious, long-term damage to this country by bringing millions of heretofore apolitical or turned-off voters into the political process only to betray them, leaving them to think unjustly that politics is not only bad, but worse than they ever imagined.
The only things that drive Perot are his gargantuan ego and fat government contracts. The Tribune is dead right that Perot`s re-entrance into the race will only help ”to discredit it.”
