With all the attention given to Sinead O`Connor`s political action on
”Saturday Night Live,” I find it telling that nobody`s talking about the motivations or history behind it.
Her action should have created an opportunity to learn about and debate the Protestant-Catholic conflict in Northern Ireland. Instead, everyone is whining and pointing fingers.
These days, we all find it easier to yell at entertainers (O`Connor,
”Murphy Brown,” Ice-T) than to confront the vital issues they raise. Let`s focus on real problems that must be solved, instead of the opinion of a single person.
