Sophomore Alison Grosset from Edinburgh, Scotland, was named De Paul`s athlete of the week for winning her second consecutive Great Midwest Conference individual women`s cross-country championship in the conference meet at Birmingham, Ala. Her time for the 5,000-meter course was 18:10.79. Teammate Pam O`Lesky finished second, 16 seconds behind Grosset. The Blue Demons were third in team standings behind UAB and Marquette.
In the GMC men`s cross-country meet, sophomore Brian Singleton finished third and helped the Demons to a third-place finish behind Marquette and Cincinnati.
The soccer team tied Michigan State 1-1 and lost 4-3 in overtime to Marquette to conclude its regular season with overall and conference records of 6-10-2 and 1-4.
De Paul`s volleyball team, sporting a 6-1 conference record, plays host to third-place Memphis State on Friday and first-place UAB on Saturday.
