F.C. Robinson`s correction (Nov. 4) to Henry F. Green`s comments of Oct. 13 requires a re-correction of the ”correct description” of the ”sergeant`s insignia of rank.”

Robinson`s presumed correction states, ”A U.S. Army 1st sergeant has three stripes above, two `rockers` below and a lozenge in the middle. Five stripes.” No U.S. Army enlisted rank has this insignia.

Rather, a 1st sergeant insignia consists of three stripes above, three

”rockers” below, with a diamond in the middle-six stripes.

There is a five-stripe rank, but without the diamond in the middle. It is designated sergeant 1st class, as contrasted to 1st class sergeant, which seems to be the question in concern.
