First Lady Suzanne Mubarak of Egypt has launched a campaign to raise about $9 million from the private sector to build 100 new schools to replace some of those destroyed by an earthquake in October. ”The state cannot alone rebuild all the schools that were destroyed by the earthquake, so we are trying to get private citizens to help out,” says Moustafa Haggag of the Ministry of Information, which is assisting the Egyptian Society for Childhood and Development, chaired by Mubarak.
