Joey Lawrence, 16, plays excitable Joey Russo on the NBC hit ”Blossom.” In real life, he is every bit as hyper, girl-crazy and sweet as he appears on TV.

”I just love doing this series, it`s incredible,” Joey blabs at warp-speed as he starts talking about ”Blossom” and co-star Mayim Bialik. ”We have a lot of fun.”

Before that sentence is done, Joey`s on to his next subject: music. His debut album is coming out from MCA Records Feb. 2 (no title yet).

”It`s like rhythm and blues music,” says Joey, who sings and plays piano and co-wrote all of the songs on the disc. ”It`s top 40, too, my own sorta thing. … I`ve always wanted to be a musician, even before I was an actor.”

A pretty early ambition, since he was acting by age 5. He joined ”Gimme A Break” at 6, did TV movies, then jumped into ”Blossom” in 1989.

All the while, however, he was writing songs.

”The last song on the album, `Read My Eyes,` that`s the first song I ever wrote, when I was like 11,” he says. If it`s a hit, he may give up acting for music.

There are some surprises about Joey. For one thing, his earring is fake- he wears a magnetic stick-on during the show because he refused to ”poke a hole in my head.” And though he`s a major teen heartthrob, he doesn`t have a girl.

”I haven`t had any luck with girls lately!” he moans.

He dated Kellie Martin (Becca on ”Life Goes On”) for a while, but says that mostly he looks for regular girls who are ”honest in their emotions.”

If he could date anyone, though, Joey can name his date in a nanosecond:

”Cindy Crawford.” He also wants to ”win a few Emmys, some Grammys, maybe an Oscar or two…”

Like we said, warp-speed!
