– Barrington: Shelter Inc., a local child welfare agency providing emergency and temporary housing for children in crisis, will benefit from a warehouse sale conducted Friday through Dec. 20 by J.T.`s General Store at 511 Lake Zurich Rd. For information, call 255-8060.

– Carpentersville: The Carpenstersville Police Department, in cooperation with its Benevolent, D.A.R.E. and Crime Prevention programs and the Elgin Salvation Army, is requesting donations of warm clothing. Donations may be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 20 at the police department, 1200 L.W. Besinger Drive.
– Crystal Lake: Donations of wrapped gifts and non-perishable food items are need by Turning Point, a McHenry County agency providing community-based shelters and support services for victims of domestic violence. Donations may be dropped off from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Center for Women`s Health Care, 285 Memorial Drive.
