It is hard to believe that Milly`s Orchid Show is celebrating a fifth anniversary. It seems like only yesterday-oh, okay, it seems like only a few days ago-that this wonderful gathering of performance artists, comics, singers and anybody else who fits, even loosely, into the category of ”entertainer,” began.
The shows started at Lounge Ax and eventually became so popular that they moved to the more spacious Park West. Now, in a very special event, Milly`s Orchid Show returns to Lounge Ax, 2438 N. Lincoln Ave. (312-525-6620) for two shows, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and advance tickets ($10) are available at Wax Trax, 2449 N. Lincoln Ave.
The chance to see the Orchid Show in the bar`s intimate confines is irresistible, especially since Milly has packed the program with almost everyone who`s every performed with the show. We`ll be especially glad to see Paula Killen and the Disgraces, John ”Sinatra” Connors, a Blue Man Group video presentation, the Coaldiggers (”those hot boy-dancers”), and Consuelo Allen as Milly`s ”sister” Willy May.
