To equate working women whose children are in day care with child abuse, as Frank Klick did in his letter on Dec. 10, is obscene. This is another example of a person hopelessly trapped by stereotypes whose intent is to terrorize women into remaining in ”their place.”

As a stay-at-home mother, I know that what I do is rewarding and important, but it is by no means my only option, nor should it be considered the only proper method of childrearing.

Why, may I ask, is motherhood the ”noblest and most essential of careers” for women, and no mention is made of the place fatherhood should have in a man`s life? As a man, shouldn`t that be his concern?

What matters is the love that both parents give to a child, not the roles that they play.
