A contractor accused by state officials of running “one of the most notorious ripoff operations in Chicago and its suburbs” has been cleared of home-repair fraud charges in Du Page County Circuit Court.
Ronald Kafka of Riverside was acquitted Wednesday of charges of home-repair fraud by Judge Ronald Mehling. Kafka was indicted last year following an investigation by Atty. Gen. Roland Burris’ office.
Burris alleged that Kafka failed to complete a project and had misrepresented himself to customers.
Burris spokesman Charles Cleveland said the attorney general’s office has two criminal cases against Kafka pending in Cook County Circuit Court.
