A Tribune story on Dec. 20 mentions the possibility of a bailout by taxpayers of underfunded private and public sector pensions. But which taxpayers?

What about pensionless retirees? Must they cough up extra taxes to support continuation of lifestyles of those retired on 50-85 percent of their former salaries, with many of these affluent retirees paying only $2 for expensive prescription drugs?

Congress had better take a long look at any bailout plan, lest pensionless people are put at an even greater economic disadvantage.
