Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center is looking for women over 18 to participate in a 20-week study of a device that may absorb urine leakage caused by incontinence following coughing, sneezing or exercise. The condition, researchers say, affects up to 50 percent of women age 35 to 65 and about 25 percent of women age 16 to 25. “This is not a treatment and not a cure, but it’s a way to control wetness without the risk of surgery or the side effects of medication,” says Dr. Linda Brubaker, director of urogynecology at Rush.
