Occupation: Actress.
Birthday: Sept. 30, 1963.
Birthplace: Houston.
Current home: Studio City, Calif.
Marital Status: Single.
Car: A black 1992 Infiniti.
Working On: Playing Helen Chappell on “Wings,” on NBC-TV.
Favorite performer: Cher. In this business, you get real jaded, but she’s one person who does that little-girl-fan thing to me.
Most vivid childhood memory: I was in kindergarten, and I tried to find my daddy, who had just dropped me off, but he had already driven away. I started walking to the Baptist church where he was a minister. Someone offered to drive me there. I told my daddy I had been kidnapped. When I saw what a big fuss everybody made, it made me feel so very important.
People always think I’m: Heather Locklear.
Nobody knows I’m: As good as I am. Ever since I started in this business, I’ve believed more in myself than anyone else has.
A really great evening to me is: Singing in front of thousands of people with Mariah Carey’s voice coming out of my mouth.
My fantasy is: I’m in a movie with Tom Hanks.
People who knew me in high school thought I was: Going to be a star.
The best time of my life: Starting my career. You get validation, and there’s nothing more fulfilling than that-not love, not anything.
The worst time of my life: High school. I wasn’t allowed to date-which I’m now glad about; I don’t now have a bunch of scum walking around saying, “I dated Crystal”-but at the time, the guys were cruel to me.
My friends like me because: I’m not needy. That’s why I like them, too, because they don’t hang on me.
Behind my back, they say: “She never plays hooky.”
Most humbling experience: When I got to L.A., I went on an open call at the Nina Blanchard modeling agency. They said I was too short. I went into the bathroom and cried. But then I waited till everyone left and talked to Nina myself, and she signed me.
Three words that best describe me: Feisty, energetic and anxious.
