During the past two months my name has been mentioned several times in articles and letters about efforts to obtain RU486, an experimental drug, for a breast cancer patient. I am writing to correct a misconception that the French were somehow at fault in our struggle to obtain the medication.
Rather, I applaud the French company, Roussel UCLAF, for providing hope to an American woman who had exhausted all other options. Dr. Andre Ulman approved my request for humanitarian reasons and the medication was provided at no charge.
