Sorry, Italians are not Hispanics! This is in reference to Ana Santana’s letter published on Feb. 18. In her letter, Miss Santana refers to “Hispanics” as “people from Spain, Central, South and Latin America, as well as Italians.”

Miss Santana might want to check a dictionary in her high school library and she will be surprised to find the following headings: Hispanic-a person of Spanish or Latin American descent. Italian-a native of Italy or a person of Italian descent. Miss Santana says that, as a Latino, she “stands proud”; so do I, as an Italian.
