He’s been around camp less than a month, yet pitcher Chris Bosio, the club’s big free-agent acquisition ($16 million, four years), already is a presence in the clubhouse. He’s 6 feet 3 inches, 225 pounds, with the bristly beginning of a Fu Manchu mustache. An open-faced-sandwich kind of guy. “I’m Italian. My parents are old-fashioned. We hug and kiss a lot; we communicate.” He wanders from locker to locker, saying hello, giving encouragement-even advice, if asked. “We’ve never had anyone quite like him before,” said reliever Russ Swan. “We’ve had leaders by example, but `Boz’ is a leader in all ways.” Where will it all, uh, lead? Said Bosio: “New closer (Norm Charlton), new manager (Lou Piniella), new uniforms, new organization, new ownership. It is going to be exciting.”
