Walter J. Dotterer, 75, a retired certified life underwriter, died Tuesday at his home in Sarasota, Fla. Mr. Dotterer was with the Equitable Life Assurance Society for 30 years before retiring in 1980. Mr. Dotterer was past president of the Chicago Association of Life Underwiters, the Illinois Association of Life Underwriters and the Palos Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Iona; a son, Herbert; a daughter, Judy Zika; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Van Henkelum Funeral Home, 12534 S. Harlem Ave., Palos Heights. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church, 12300 Wolf Rd., Palos Park.
