Robert Baum, 87, head of the Army recruitment office in Chicago after World War II, died Tuesday in Harlingen, Texas. Lt. Col. Baum served in the Army for 32 years. He lived in Rogers Park, Evanston and Glenview while serving in the Illinois National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Barbara Collins and Marjorie Harwitz; and six grandchildren. Services at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia are pending.
