Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Several years ago I watched my grandmother die a slow, painful, undignified death due to lung cancer.

If I should happen to be in a similar situation someday, I am not certain that I would have the courage or stamina to see a terminal illness through to its inevitable conclusion. I am, however, quite sure that I would not be courageous enough to commit suicide by myself. Therefore, the objections to the compassionate and humane practices of Dr. Kevorkian are beyond my understanding.

I hope that if I am ever faced with such a terrible situation, the option of physician-assisted suicide is available so that I might end my life quickly, painlessly, and, perhaps most important of all, with dignity.
