Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar accepted the Engineer of the Year award from Design News magazine this month in Chicago. Dunbar, 44, who holds a Ph.D. in bioengineering and is a veteran of three space-shuttle flights, says high school girls should study math, chemistry, physics and computer classes because “they will need these skills, even if they don’t become engineers.”
