Thousands of Chicagoans will step off March 28 for the Super Cities Walk for Multiple Sclerosis, a 21-kilometer (13 miles) jog or walk along Chicago’s lakefront to raise money for research and serve people affected by MS.
Walks and runs also will take place at 13 other locations across Illinois, including a 9-mile route in Starved Rock State Park near Utica. Illinois organizers hope to raise $1 million via participants’ pledges.
Multiple sclerosis strikes two-thirds more women as men, attacking the central nervous system, according to the Chicago-Greater Illinois Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. For information, call 800-922-0484.
