The Chicago Special Olympics will celebrate its 25th anniversary on July 20 with events at Soldier Field. The Chicago Special Olympics for people with developmental disabilities was founded by Illinois Court of Claims Judge and Chicago lawyer Anne Burke, who first came up with the idea and now sits on the board of directors. In the last 25 years, the Special Olympics programs have grown to include 2 million people worldwide.
