Clarence Page is now calling all who question the very idea of affirmative action ax grinders (“What backlashers won’t say about affirmative action,” March 3)? What a hypocrite! He has so often sharpened his own ax on the whetstone of white maledom that he seriously dulled what used to be genuine incisiveness. He routinely swings his rhetorical, pompous ax into a societal ill and almost as routinely lays bare white male oppression as its cause.

Rightly, he protests the stereotypes which continue to plague Afro-Americans, but righteously stereotypes white males (is the term “men” too dignified?) as being linked together in a secret network where we all assimilate and communicate our evil intentions toward anyone who isn’t one of us.

His continuing to bifurcate the moral universe into virtuous victims (those who are not “white males”) and persecuting pigs (those who are) is a popular new mental exercise indulged in by those hatchet-persons of the politically correct.
