The Tribune’s recent editorial concerning the tragedy at Waco (“Where the blame lies for Waco,” April 21) unwittingly underlines the single most devastating problem in American society today. “Who . . . could have predicted that mothers would sacrifice their children . . . ?”
In other words, fathers are not expected by our society to love and nurture their children; that is the mother’s responsibility.
If we don’t begin to change the way males are socialized, it won’t be long before this country is not fit to live in.
