Kudos to Illinois High School All-State Academic Team selectants (Du Page section, May 2) and their parents. Did the plethora of two parents with the same surnames indicate something that money can’t buy, fix or forestall?
Perhaps the hidden message of years of love, nurturing, carpooling and transporting those fine young people to music and sports lessons, drama events, attendance at same, and most of all, quality time spent by two parents, to bring forth the marvelous achievements of their offspring, might remind us all that a child is a gift, a trust, a most beautiful melding of future potential.
How simple and too brief is the role of active parenthood. How costly and sad is its absence.
