The “Survival Guide” in the April 18 WOMANEWS section was excellent in its discussion of causes of early pregnancy loss, but one important area was overlooked: genetic testing. Valuable as amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling (CVS) are in screening for major genetic problems, both procedures can cause miscarriage in about one in 100 cases.
