Tim Belcher pitched a one-hitter to end a month-long slump and give Davey Johnson his first victory as Cincinnati manager.

Belcher (2-4) struck out 10 and allowed just a first-inning double to Deion Sanders as he won for the first time since April 20, when he also threw a shutout. He walked two and hit Sanders in the seventh.

Johnson, who replaced Tony Perez on Monday, took a 5-0 loss to the Braves in his debut Tuesday night.

Chris Sabo homered and had an RBI infield single off Greg Maddux (4-4), who allowed four runs and seven hits over six innings.
