Boston’s HRI Hospital’s Center for Women’s Development has the first mother-baby unit in the United States for women suffering from post-partum psychiatric illness. Between 10 and 15 percent of women who give birth experience a post-partum depression or other psychiatric problem, said director Denise Elliott. She will speak in Chicago Friday at a conference on post-partum mental-health issues sponsored by Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center.
