Well now, the Tribune reports that increased police surveillance and a gang truce are credited with a 44 percent decrease in the murder rate. Why is it then that Richie Daley and the Tribune are promoting gun control as a solution to crime when this has never shown to have any effect on criminal activity, much less a 44 percent decrease?
