Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run single off nemesis Steve Howe during a six-run rally in the seventh and also homered.

Dave Fleming (6-1) won his sixth straight decision. Howe (3-4) threw only one pitch and was the loser.

Mackey Sasser hit a two-run homer in the sixth, pulling the Mariners within 5-2. In the seventh, they loaded the bases against Melido Perez before Griffey, 0 for 7 against Howe, singled up the middle.
