The July 11 editorial “The dollars that drive Chicago’s deficit” is a blatant attempt to make overburdened taxpayers feel guilty about the Chicago Board of Education’s deficit.
I cannot sympathize with a school system that operates with a 43 to 55 percent dropout rate-with more teachers and staff teaching fewer students.
I oppose rewarding the board with additional tax dollars given its dismal educational and fiscal record.
