It is dismaying to see the Tribune serving military propaganda-and so blatantly (“Marines hit the beach their way,” July 9). War is not a game and I find the military’s use of a mock invasion on a Chicago beach “to entertain” offensive and sickening.

The piece was certainly a glorification of military power, portraying the use of deadly force as something totally acceptable, promoting an unthinking attitude towards the consequences.

The placement of this propaganda next to a story about the shooting death of yet another innocent child underscores the danger of such glorification of weapons referred to as “toys” in the invasion article.
