John E. “Jack” Sullivan Jr., 76, a business executive and an advocate for the developmentally disabled, died Thursday in his River Forest home. He was vice president of the Chicago office of New York-based Transportation Displays Inc. and had been a vice president of Chicago Car Advertising, where he had worked for more than 40 years. Mr. Sullivan was a 1939 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. During World War II, he was a captain in the Army. He was a board member of Good Shepherd Manor in Momence, a home for mentally retarded men where his son John E. “Jackie” Sullivan III was a resident. He is survived by his wife, Helene; three sons, John E. III, James F. and Michael P.; two daughters, Darby Cusick and Sheila Smith; a brother; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Ahern Funeral Home, 1110 Madison St., Oak Park. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Lathrop and North Avenues, River Forest.
