Occupation: Actor.
Birthday: Oct. 24, 1959.
Birthplace: Tucson.
Current home: Denton County, Tex.
Marital status: Married for seven years.
Children: Three, ages 2, 3 and 17, and one more on the way.
Car: A Chevy truck.
Working on: I’m starring in “Ned Blessing,” on CBS; I’m in the Showtime movie, “The Birds: Land’s End,” a sequel to Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” airing in the fall; I’ve got a movie coming out in October, “The Philadelphia Experiment”; and I’m filming “Little Big League.”
The last good movie I saw was: “In the Line of Fire.”
The books I’m reading: “Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West,” by Cormac McCarthy, and “Shooting Star,” a biography of John Wayne, by Maurice Zolotow.
Favorite performers: John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda. They represent America to me: honor, integrity, dignity.
Favorite childhood memory: Trout-fishing with my dad on Yellowstone Lake.
Prized possession: My ranch. It was an old, overgrown, abandoned piece of land that I almost single-handedly reclaimed, and now I’m raising cattle on it.
I’d give anything to have met: Abe Lincoln. I’d like him to look at our problems today.
I want to teach my children: To be humble, mind their own business, be self-reliant, stand up for what they think is right, watch where they’re going and remember where they’ve been.
A really great evening to me is: Grilling trout over an open fire with my family.
The one thing I can’t stand in people is: People who degrade our country and then want to live here.
If I could change one thing about myself, I would be: A little more refined. Some actors give these awesome interviews you want to give them the Nobel Peace Prize.
If I weren’t an actor, I’d be: Training horses.
My most humbling experience: When I was in 6th grade, I picked on a 5th-grader, and he beat me in front of everybody. That was the day I became a man.
Three words that best describe me: Adventurous, happy, optimistic.
