“Funny Farm” is the beach-blanket-bingo tape of the summer, on par with the long-ago debuts of Blondie and the B-52’s with its sparse, casually goofball lyrics spread over chattering funk guitar, danceable bass lines and cheesy organ. The Louisville band can groove at any speed, from the slinky funk of “Scooba Dooba Diver” to the up-tempo “Bad Cat Blues.” While Ethan Buckler’s baritone spew of Dr. Seuss-ian nonsense may not be for everyone, Amy George’s crystalline harmonies surely are. As guilty boom-box pleasures go, this is a must.
