Ken Griffey Jr. scored on a wild pitch, capping a two-run Seattle rally in the eighth. The loss kept Toronto tied for first place in the AL East with New York.
Jack Morris shut out the Mariners on three hits for seven innings. But in the eighth, Bret Boone doubled with one out off Danny Cox (6-6) and Griffey was intentionally walked. But Cox also walked Jay Buhner, loading the bases, and Dave Magadan made it 1-all with a sacrifice fly. After a walk to Mike Blowers re-loaded the bases, Cox threw the wild pitch.
Chris Bosio (7-7) pitched eight innings of six-hit ball. Ted Power got the last out for his seventh save.
