Coach: Jim Colletto.
Record with team: 8-14.
Last year: 4-7, tied for sixth.
Returning starters: Seven on offense, seven on defense, one kicker.
Players to watch: DBs Jimmy Young and Pat Johnson, WRs Jermaine Ross and Jeff Hill, TB Arlee Connors.
Top newcomer: OL Damon Lewis.
Bill Jauss’ outlook: The Boilermakers are experienced and good at the skill positions, especially running backs and receivers. They are younger and not as proven in the offensive and defensive lines. This usually adds up to a losing season. The key will be how much help Chris Sedoris and Elvin Caldwell get on the offensive line, where a massive newcomer, 340-pound Damon Lewis, could provide a big plus.
