Randy Johnson won his career-high 15th game of the season and struck out 13. Johnson (15-8) leads the major leagues with 254 strikeouts.
He overcame a shaky fifth inning with the help of Greg Litton’s two-run double in the sixth, putting Seattle ahead to stay.
It was the 11th time this season that Johnson has struck out 10 or more in a game, and the 35th time in his career. Johnson pitched his eighth complete game of the year, tying him for third in the league with Jack McDowell of the White Sox.
