Dozens of Chicago-area architects, planners and designers were honored Friday by their colleagues in the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago’s 26th annual Key Awards.

More than 100 judges were needed for the record 260 entries, the association said at Friday’s awards dinner at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace.

The award winners were:

– Land planning for single-family development: Gold to Baxter Homes Corp. for the Fairways at Rivershire, land planner Otis Associates; silver to Lake Shore Developers for Lakeview Estates Bermuda, Johnston & Associates planners; bronze to Woodhill Corp. for Riverside at Ole Caton Farm, George Matarazzo land planner.

– Land planning for multifamily development: Gold to Lannert Group for Georgetown II; silver to Lannert Group for Willow Gate; bronze to Provencal Builders for Oak Creek Club, Architects Plus planners.

– Land planning for multiuse development: Gold to Aurora Venture for Stonebridge Country Club, LDR International planners; silver to Lannert Group for Eagle Brook; bronze to Westfield Homes of Illinois Inc. for Stonebrook, David Jensen Associates planners.

– Landscape architecture for a single-family development: Gold to Aurora Venture for Lakeside, Hitchcock Design Group landscape architect; silver to Baxter Homes Corp. for the Fairways at Rivershire, Brickman Co. landscape architect; bronze to Lannert Group for the Hamlet of Season’s Ridge.

– Landscape architecture for a single-family custom home: Gold to Wercheck Builders Ltd. for home at Canterbury Circle, Land Design Collaborative landscape architects; silver to J.W.W. Builders Inc. for the Idea House, Douglas Hills Associates Inc. landscape architects; bronze to Earth Industries Inc. for entrance design and planting at Riverbend.

– Landscape architecture for multifamily development: Gold to Provencal Builders for Oak Creek Club, Wingren Walsh landscape architect; silver to Midland Landscape Nursery Inc. for Rainbow Pointe; bronze to Lannert Group for Willowgate on the River.

– Landscape architecture for mixed-use development: Gold to Midland Landscape Nursery Inc. for Boulder Ridge Country Club, Robert Stell landscape architect; silver to Aurora Venture for Stonebridge Country Club, Hitchcock Design Group landscape architect; bronze to Westfield Homes of Illinois Inc. for Stonebrook, David Jensen Associates landscape architects.

– Architctural design for single-family detached homes less than 1,500 square feet: gold to Town & Country Homes for the Snowfall at Starlight at Big Sky, Bassenian Lagoni Architects; silver to Lexington Homes for the Cheswick at Silver Oaks, Bloodgood, Sharp & Buster Architects & Planners Inc.

– Architectural design for single-family homes 1,501 to 1,800 square feet: Gold to Sundance Homes Inc. for DayBreak at Country Walk, Kephart Architects; silver a tie between Shaw Homes Inc. for a residence in New Homes on Quincy Street, Schroeder, Murchie & Laya architects, and Town & Country for Rosewreath model at Starlight at Big Sky, Bassenian Lagoni Architects; bronze to Bloodgood Sharp Buster Architects and Planners Inc. for the Bristol model at Concord Hills at Meadowbrook.

– Architectural design for single-family homes 1,801-2,300 square feet: Gold to Baxter Homes Corp. for the Primrose at Country Lane, OAI/Otis Associates architect; silver to OAI/Otis Associates the Ogden at Four Pointes; bronze to Lexington Homes for Greenfield model at Silver Oaks, Bloodgood, Sharp Buster Architects & Planners.

– Architectural design for single-family home 2,301 to 3,000 square feet: Gold to Baxter Homes for Country Lane, OAI/Otis Associates architects; silver to Lexington Homes for Wingate model at English Meadows, Bloodgood Sharp Buster architects; bronze to Lexington Homes for Gatewood model at English Meadows, Bloodgood Sharp Buster architects.

– Architectural design for single-family home 3,001 to 4,000 square feet: Gold to McNaughton Development Inc. for house at Misty Harbour, Jay Hoedervoogt architect; silver to McNaughton Development for house at Devon Woods, Jay Hoedervoogt architect; bronze to Oak Builders Inc. for Wilshire model at Canterbury Trails, Oak Builders architects.

– Architectural design for single-family home 4,001 to 5,000 square feet: Gold to Provencal Builders for Provencal Custom at Oak Creek Club, Len Bauer architect; silver to McNaughton Development for house at Ruffled Feathers, Jay Hoendervoogt architect; bronze to McNaughton Development for house at Misty Harbour, Jay Hoendervoogt architect.

– Architectural design for single-family home 5,001 to 7,500 square feet: Gold to R.M. Swanson & Associates Inc., architect; silver to Orren Pickell Builders, Len Bauer architect; bronze to Wercheck Builders Ltd., James March Goldberg architect.

– Architectural design for single-family home larger than 7,501 square feet: Gold to R.M. Swanson & Associates Inc.; silver to Sevvonco, architect John W. Kraai.

– Architectural design for multifamily homes less than 1,500 square feet: Gold to Lexington Homes for Butterfield design at Towne Place West, architect Bloodgood Sharp Buster Architects & Planners Inc.; silver to Lexington Homes for Andover at Towne Place West, architect Bloodgood Sharp Buster; bronze to Wiseman-Hughes Enterprises Inc. for design at Caton Crossing, architect OAI/Otis Associates.

– Architectural design for multifamily home 1,501 to 1,800 square feet: Gold to Lexington Homes for Carlyle at Towne Place West, Bloodgood Sharp Buster architects; silver to Provencal Builders for Dawnwood at Malibu Ranch, Len Bauer architect; bronze to Bloom & Fiorino Architects for Reed II at Lost Creek.

– Architectural design for multifamily home 1,801 to 2,400 square feet: Gold to Martin Design Group Ltd. for the Georgetown, Eugene E. Martin architect; silver to Provencal Builders for the Dawnwood, Len Bauer architect; bronze to Red Seal Development Corp. for the Crofton at Winchester Estates, McClier architect.

– Architectural design for multifamily home 2,401 to 3,000 square feet: Bronze is Red Seal for the Ashton at Winchester Estates, architect McClier; no gold or silver was awarded.

Another design category is “homes for sale or rent.” This category weighs marketing and building quality in addition to the architecture, unlike the pure architectural design category in which the majority of judges are architects. Marketing and building experts are on the judging panels for the “for sale or rent” category. Winners are:

– Single-family detached homes smaller than 1,500 square feet in subdivisions of more than 10 units: Gold to Cambridge Homes Inc. for the Brightwell model at Fox Chase; silver to Lexington Homes for the Brookfield model at Silver Oaks.

– Single-family homes 1,501 to 1,800 square feet: Gold to Property Concepts Inc. for the Ashbury at Lakeview Estates; silver to Sundance Homes Inc. for Daybreak at Country Walk; bronze to Cambridge Homes for the Alcott at College Trail.

– Single-family homes 1,801 to 2,300 square feet: Gold to Lexington Homes for the Brentwood at English Meadows; silver to Cambridge Homes for Royal Aberdeen at the Highlands of Fairway Ridge; bronze to Baxter Homes for the Devonshire at Country Lane.

– Single-family detached homes 2,301 to 3,000 square feet: Gold to Reichert Builders Inc. for McCormick Place Homes at Brookridge Creek; silver to Kennedy Group for the Brighton at Charlemagne; bronze to Baxter Homes for the Whitechapel at Country Lane.

– Single-family detached homes 3,001 to 5,000 square feet: Gold to Shaw Homes Inc. for the Hampton at the Reserve at the Merit Club; silver to Oak Builders Inc. for the Wilshire at Canterbury Trails; bronze to McNaughton Development for a house at Ruffled Feathers.

– Single-family detached larger than 5,001 square feet: Gold to Provencal Builders for the Leisenfelt residence at Oak Ridge Creek.

– Multifamily units for sale or rent smaller than 1,200 square feet: Gold to Pulte Master Builders for the Devon at Liberty Square; silver to Kimball Hill Inc. for the Aster at Wildwood Glen.

– Multifamily units 1,201 to 1,500 square feet: Gold to J.P. O’Connor & Co. for the Brighton at Georgetown II; silver to DuPage Associates (James Cos. of Illinois) for the Doral at the Golf Villas; bronze to Lexington Homes for the Butterfield at Towne Place West.

– Multifamily units 1,501 to 1,800 square feet: Gold to J.P. O’Connor & Co. for the Anover at Georgetown II; silver to Lexington Homes for Deerbrook at Towne Place West; bronze to Patron Homes Inc. for the Dover at Tiffany Bay Townhomes.

– Multifamily units 1,801 to 2,000 square feet for sale or rent: Gold to Timberview, silver to J.P.O’Connor; bronze to Red Seal; .Martin Design Group Ltd. was awarded a special Gold Key for its Georgetown design, which is in this size category but had additional features that judges say set it apart from other entries.

– Multifamily units 2,001 to 2,400 square feet: gold to MCL Construction Corp. for terrace homes at the Embassy Club; silver to Glenlake Associates (James Cos. of Illinois) for the Morgan design at Glenlake Estates; bronze to Jos. Cacciatore & Co. for Tuscany Club Villas.

– Multifamily designs larger than 2,401 square feet: Gold to JDS Homes Inc. for the Courtyards of Hinsdale; silver to Red Seal Development Corp. for the Ashton at Winchester Estates; bronze to Provencal Builders for the Malibu Delux model at Dawnwood.

Custom home builders competed in separate categories. Winners:

– Custom homes smaller than 4,000 square feet: Gold to Molidor Custom Builders Inc. for a residence in Western Springs; silver to Traditional Concepts Inc. for a house in Lake Bluff; bronze to Rynes Development Inc. for home in Emerald Ridge.

– Custom homes 4,001 to 5,000 square feet: Gold to Phil Dressler & Associates; silver to Duggan & Kinsella Builders Inc.; bronze to Orren Pickell Builders.

– Custom home from 5,001 to 7,500 square feet: Gold to Martin Design Group Ltd.; silver to Werchek Builders Inc.; bronze to DeLaura Inc.

– Custom home larger than 7,501 square feet: Gold to Phil Dressler & Associates.

– Special-event homes from shows, parades, cavalcades, etc., 3,001 to 5,000 square feet: Gold to Orren Pickell Builders for Prairie on the Green; silver to E.T. Mansell Construction Co. for the St. Andrew at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course; bronze to McNaughton Development for a house at Ruffled Feathers.

– Special-event homes larger than 5,001 square feet: Gold to J.W.W. Builders for the Idea House; silver to DeLaura Inc. for Fairway Oaks at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course.

– Semicustom or spec homes smaller than 4,000 square feet: Gold to Lazzaretto Construction Co. for house at Libertyville Highlands; silver to Reschke General Contractors for home at Winslow Acres; bronze to McNaughton Development for house at Crystal Tree.

– Semicustom or spec homes 4,001 to 6,000 square feet: Gold to Empeco Inc. for Aberdeen at Hillshire Estates; silver to McNaughton Development for house at Misty Harbour; bronze to McNaughton Development for design at Ruffled Feathers.

– Semicustom and spec houses over 6,001 square feet: Gold to J.W.W. Builders for the Idea House.

Other winners include:

– Remodeling interior of detached home: Gold to Werchek Builders, silver to Sevvonco Inc. and bronze to Bongi Development Corp.

– Remodeling exterior of detached home: Gold to Werchek Builders, silver to Bongi Development.

– Interior design for single-family detached home smaller than 1,500 square feet: Gold to Town & Country Homes for the Snowfall model at Starlight at Big Sky, Carole Eichen Interiors the designer; silver to B. Morris & Co. for Walker at Caton Crossing, B. Morris & Co. the designer; bronze to Lexington Homes for Brookfield at Silver Oaks, Hillary Reed Interiors the designer.

– Interior design for single-family home 1,501 to 1,800 square feet: Gold to Sundance Homes for Daybreak at Country Walk, Sundance Homes the designer; Silver to Cambridge Homes for Alcott at College Trail, Cambridge Homes the designer; bronze to B. Morris & Co. for the Abbey at Chesapeake Farms.

– Interior design for single-family homes 1,801 to 2,300 square feet: Gold to Town & Country for Shadowrock at Star Summit at Big Sky, Carole Eichen designer; silver to Shelly Barrad Designs Inc. for Kendall “D” elevation at Four Points; bronze to B. Morris & Co. for Chelsea at Amber Grove.

– Interior Design for single-family homes 2,301 to 3,000 square feet: Gold to Lexington Homes for Wingate at Fairfax Crossing, Kathy Andrews Interiors; silver to Town & Country for Shadowrock at Star Summit at Big Sky, Carole Eichen Interiors; bronze to Town & Country for Raintree at Star Summit at Big Sky, Carole Eichen Interiors.

– Interior design for single-family homes 3,001 to 4,000 square feet: Gold to D. Edmunds Interiors and Floor Fashions for the St. Andrew at Ruffled Feathers; silver to Terrestris Development Corp. for the Normandy at Estates of Deer Crossing, the Concept Group designers.

– Interior design for single-family home larger than 5,001 square feet: Gold to Design One for Fairway Oaks at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course.

– Interior design for special-event custom homes: Gold to McNaughton Development for house at Ruffled Feathers, Michelle Plunkett-Steen designer; silver to J.W.W. Builders for the Idea House, Richard Honquest Fine Furnishings designer; bronze to Zinteriors.

– Interior design for multifamily units less than 1,500 square feet: Gold to Mary Cook & Associates/MCL Construction Corp.; silver to Westfield Homes of Illinois Inc. for Eaton at Stonebrook, Mary Cook & Associates designers; bronze to the Concept Group for the Abbey at Stonebrook Coach Homes.

– Interior design for multifamily homes 1,501 to 1,800 square feet: gold to MCL Construction/Mary Cook & Associates for a unit at Harbor Square at Central Station; silver to Westfield Homes for the Chelsea at Stonebrook, the Concept Group designers; bronze to B. Morris & Co./J.P. O’Connor & Co. for the Boulder at Columbine Glen, B. Morris & Co. designers.

– Interior design for multifamily units 1,801 to 2,400 square feet: Gold to Red Seal Development Corp. for the Brunswick at Winchester Estates, the Concept Group designers; silver to Sublette Design Group for the Stonebrook at Lake Barrington Shores; bronze to Provencal Builders for the Dawnwood at Dawnwood, Barbra Mullvihill designer.

– Interior design for multifamily unit 2,401 to 3,000 square feet: Gold to Red Seal Development for the Ashton at Winchester Estates, Concept Group designers.
