Former heavyweight boxing champion Leon Spinks, convicted twice of drunken driving charges, appeared on a third charge Wednesday in Du Page County Circuit Court.
Spinks, 40, of Lombard, appeared before Associate Judge Perry Thompson, who granted Spinks’ request for a continuance to hire a lawyer.
Spinks was convicted of drunken driving in 1989 in Michigan and in 1992, in Du Page County.
In the new Du Page County case, Spinks was arrested on Sept. 13 in Glendale Heights.
