Enrollment in St. Charles Community Unit District 303 grew by 258 students from last year.

“We didn’t get as many (more students) as projected, but it’s still an upward trend,” Supt. John Vanko said. “I’m glad we didn’t get any more students because of the facilities situation this year.”

The district still finds itself overcrowded in spots and is using some temporary facilities this year.

A $44.1 million construction and remodeling program is under way in the district that is intended to accommodate space needs through the next decade. A study used in anticipating district space needs had projected an increase of 381 district students over last year.
