The Tribune’s recent condoning of the Disney Company’s decision to cut a scene from the movie “The Program” because it depicted irresponsible teenage behavior was admirable but not realistic (“A movie scene’s fatal attraction,” Oct. 21).
Why stop there? Everyone knows how detrimental guns and violence are on our society and our young people, so filmmakers should also delete all those scenes from movies as well. In addition, with promiscuousness at an all-time high, shouldn’t movies promoting extra- or pre-marital sex be banned, too?
Though its effort was noble, the Disney Company merely treated a symptom; the disease still runs merrily along.
