William J. McDonough Sr., 89, of Palatine, an aviator who received several presidential comendations for his service in the Navy during World War II, died Friday in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. Mr. McDonough was an early air mail pilot and naval aviator in World War II. He was a captain with United Airlines for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Kathleen Daley, Virginia Koss and Jacquelyn Greenough; a son, William Jr.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Colette Church, 3900 S. Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows.
