Herbert E. Lind, 76, the retired owner of a Chicago heating company, died Nov. 6 of a heart attack while traveling with family members through North Carolina. A charter member and lay leader of Moraine Valley Community Church in Palos Hills, Mr. Lind also served on the board of directors of the Chicago Baptist Association, the Fairview Baptist Home and Northern Baptist Seminary. He also served as a captain of the Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three sons, Paul, Carl and Allen; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moraine Valley Community Church, 8601 W. 107th St., Palos Hills.
