Regarding the article “Get a grip: Hand-held computers may be a gyp” (KidNews, Nov. 9), the word “gyp” is a derogatory term which refers to the alleged cheating behavior of Gypsies. “Gyp” is the sort of slur that is usually associated with groups like skinheads, the Ku Klux Klan and Nazi Germany.
Whoever edited your article apparently didn’t look at the headline, didn’t know what the word meant, or didn’t care.
