Occupation: Actress.

Birthday: June 22, 1949.

Birthplace: Los Angeles.

Current home: Los Angeles.

Marital status: Divorced.

Children: Dorian, 11, and Alex, 7.

People confuse me with: When I was younger, it was Candice Bergen and Peggy Lipton.

Working on: “Nurses on the Line,” airing Tuesday on CBS-TV.

I stay home to watch: My children and I watch “Martin” occasionally.

The book I’ve been reading is: “Bless Me Ultima,” by Rudolfo A. Anaya.

Favorite performer: Bette Midler.

Prized possession: I collect primitive art from all over the world, and I have carpets from the Middle East, a saddlebag from Nigeria and beads from Tahiti.

Personal heroes: Anne Bancroft and Joanne Woodward.

I’ve never been able to: Stand roller coasters.

I’d give anything to meet: Rigoberta Menchu, the Guatemalan woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize, and Oliver Stone. I’m curious as to what makes them tick.

I hope I never have to: Outlive my children.

If I just had more time, I’d: Do more gardening and art projects at home. I like needlepoint, and I’d like to learn to play the piano and have other creative outlets.

I want to teach my children: The concept of oneness-that all things in creation are interconnected and interdependent.

A really great evening to me is: The kids and I cook dinner together and then hang out and play afterwards.

The worst advice my mother ever gave me was: “You can’t have everything you want.” It sabotages the concept that you can achieve everything.

The one thing I can’t stand is: Photographers taking pictures of my kids and me in our private moments.

People who knew me in high school thought I was: A recluse.

My most irrational act: Being born.

If I weren’t an actress, I’d be: A psychologist.

Three words that best describe me: Open, funny and caring.
