A proposal to prohibit left turns at Oak and 55th Streets has been scrapped by the Zoning and Public Safety Committee.

The committee had suggested allowing right turns only for northbound Oak Street drivers and no left turns for westbound 55th Street drivers after approving a similar plan last month for the intersection of Elm and 55th Streets, which is just west of Oak and 55th Streets. However, after studying the matter further and hearing objections from Oak Street residents, committee members decided Monday that the two intersections are not comparable.
