By virtue of its location on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, 535 N. Michigan Ave. reaps the benefits of the privileged few.

The best the city has to offer, from restaurants and theater to the most exclusive in retail, lies at the foot of this 33-story building.

And, from the window of the 11th-floor condominium for rent, you can catch a glimpse of this endless extravaganza while anticipating becoming a part of it.

The unit for rent is quiet and rather conservatively decorated with cream wall-to-wall carpet and off-white grass wallpaper. Micro mini-blinds of the same milky shade drape the windows like curtains. A little racier is the living area’s west wall, which is composed entirely of mirrors.

Enter, please

Upon entry, to the left are two closets. One is a utility closet for coats and boots, while the other is larger and roomier and perfect for storing clothing.

To the right is an alcove that houses the kitchen area, which comes with a large stove, a refrigerator and a double stainless steel sink. Tucked underneath the sink is a dishwasher. Scattered throughout the kitchen and above and below a generous countertop area are plenty of sturdy white cabinets. The wallpaper and floor tile are both a nondescript beige.

The shuttered pass-through is a plus, providing additional shelving for small appliances as well as access to the living/dining area just beyond.

The living/dining room is of average size, with three large windows set into the far wall. At night the city view south and east is limited by other high-rises. Yet it is still inviting. TV fans might enjoy the unobstructed view of the majestic NBC Tower. And although you can’t quite see it, you can envision Lake Michigan just beyond the horizon to the east.

There is room here for a small dining table-perhaps near the windows’ display-a couch, an entertainment center and a coffee table.

Beyond and to the left of the kitchen is a short hallway that leads to the bathroom and bedroom. Between the two doorways, where the hallway ends, is a deep linen closet perfect for bed sheets and bath towels.

To the left of the closet is the bathroom, where large burgundy flowers on a beige wallpaper perfectly match the plush carpeting. A mirrored vanity covers the length of one wall above a sink unit that provides plenty of space for grooming products.

Built into the wall across from the toilet is an electric heater. This nifty little gadget makes exiting the shower on a winter’s morning less chilly. Another nice touch is the divider wall that separates the toilet and tub from the rest of the room. For two, there is a modicum of privacy.

The view continues

Across the way from the bathroom is the bedroom, which can accommodate a standard or queen-sized bed, an armoire and a bedside stand. A doubleracked closet runs the length of one wall here, so there is plenty of space for hanging garments.

The room offers a trio of windows identical to those in the living/dining area. The view is also the same.

The exercise facility and pool in this building are worth a mention. Both offer stunning city views through walls of glass. Plus, the workout room is loaded with exercise gadgets, from weight machines to exercise bikes to treadmills.
