What’s in a name? In sports, the names Braves and Redskins are presumed to denote courage. Unfortunately, there are many fans who find such usage offensive and dehumanizing.

One can’t be too careful. The old Washington Senators team name was a sneaky insult to both athletes and fans, equivalent to being called the Hypocrites. We’ve yet to hear from Bears, Wildcats and Eagles.

With countless highly acceptable and politically correct names from which to choose, there is no excuse for offending anyone. A little imagination brings to mind team names like the Atlanta Europhobes, Philadelphia Pusillanimides and Pittsburgh Palefaces. Under the present climate, names like those will soon be on every tongue.
