Senior guard Mandy Cunningham needs only seven points to move into sixth place on the all-time school scoring list. Former Illini star Lisa Bradley stands sixth with 1,192 points. Bradley may soon drop on the list, but her Miami of Ohio team dealt Illinois (3-2) its first home defeat, 78-66, Sunday afternoon in Huff Hall. The Illini turned the ball over 23 times and were outrebounded 44-39.
The women swing back into action Tuesday night at Missouri. Then they’ll break for Christmas before returning to campus for practice Dec. 27. They play in the Portland, Maine, Shootout Jan. 2-3 and return home for a grueling stretch that will bring three ranked teams-Ohio State, Alabama and Penn State-to Huff Hall in four nights.
Tickets are going fast for Big 10 men’s basketball games. The athletic ticket office said the Indiana (Jan. 30), Michigan (Jan. 23) and Wisconsin (Feb. 27) games have sold out and that Iowa (Jan. 19) and Penn State (March 5) are nearly sold out.
